Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WEDZ) is pioneering a transformative approach to urban renewal, bridging the gap between industrial and urban development.

Central to this transformation is the revitalization of industries, utilizing existing spaces to foster high-tech growth. A major example is the transformation of over 1 million square meters of outdated factories along Nantaizi Lake.

This area now hosts the Wuhan Intelligent Automobile Software Park, home to over 4,000 automotive software enterprises, including major players like Neusoft Group, Ecarx, and SiEngine Technology.

Authorities are placing a strong emphasis on enhancing residents' quality of life. The redevelopment of the Guoxuling area, with an investment exceeding 10 billion yuan ($1.48 billion), is a prime example, benefiting over 3,000 households and 15,000 residents.

The zone is also advancing the development of essential facilities, such as the expansion of No 3 Middle School and upgrades to community health service centers. The second phase of Metro Line 3 will introduce a new station in the area.

Surrounding industrial parks are being complemented by the development of youth innovation communities, talent apartments, and commercial neighborhood centers, offering young professionals high-quality amenities right at their doorstep.

The establishment of a 50-kilometer greenway has brought nature closer to 300,000 residents and further enhancing the area's appeal. As a result, 60,000 young tech talents have decided to live and work in the zone.

The zone will continue to advance urban renewal by integrating production, living, and ecological spaces. It also plans to build or renovate approximately 100 kilometers of roads, create seven pocket parks and add 20 kilometers of greenways.
