Haier has made additional investments in Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WEDZ) to build a new component factory, which will produce essential parts such as pipe assemblies, injection-molded panels, and computer boards.
The new facility is expected to be operational by the end of this year.
At Haier's intelligent workshop, the production process requires no manual intervention. Robotic arms handle tasks such as angle valve installation and box sealing, while spot welding machines weld air conditioner chassis.
An AI visual inspection system verifies details like trademarks and barcodes in real-time, ensuring a seamless production process. "Here, an air conditioner rolls off the line every 6.5 seconds on average," a company representative noted.
"Previously, two to three workers were needed to operate welding equipment, which required close proximity and intense concentration due to high welding currents. Now, we've achieved complete separation of humans and machines."
The Wuhan air conditioning factory, founded in 2002, is a crucial base for Haier Group in Central China, producing air conditioners for brands such as Haier and Leader. With four flexible assembly lines, the factory boasts an annual production capacity of 5 million units and was recognized as a national "green factory" in 2024.
