Versigent launched its state-of-the-art factory and technology center on Aug 6 in Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WEDZ), marking a major milestone in enhancing the synergy between production and research.

"This project serves as both a technology incubator and a super factory for intelligent manufacturing, empowering China's automotive industry," said Qi Song, vice-president of Versigent.

The factory and technology center are crucial for implementing Versigent's strategic pillars of digital-intelligent operations and engineering innovation, aiming to establish a new engine for local research and set a benchmark for intelligent manufacturing.

Versigent, a global leader in the specialized design and advanced manufacturing of low- and high-voltage electrical architectures, has been investing in WEDZ since 2007. The company has established several major projects in the zone, including an electrical systems production base.

Versigent also hosted its first global supplier conference this May, inviting supply chain enterprises to explore, understand, and establish themselves in the zone.

The factory exemplifies lean digital-intelligent manufacturing, achieving high automation in key processes, with AI-powered scheduling slashing the weekly planning time from 30 hours to less than one hour, boosting efficiency by over 90 percent. It is also targeting an annual production capacity of approximately 650,000 units and is set to commence large-scale mass production and delivery of its first batch of products.

Versigent's technology center, which employs over 180 R&D personnel with plans to expand this number to 600 over the next four years, focuses on areas such as electronic and electrical architecture, high-speed data transmission, and cutting-edge connectivity technologies.

"We are very optimistic about the Chinese market," Qi added. "Wuhan offers excellent transportation infrastructure, outstanding talent in science and education, and a robust automotive industry foundation, providing Versigent with vast development opportunities."

Versigent plans to further strengthen collaboration between its factory and technology center, achieving the seamless integration of research and production and supporting the high-end development of Wuhan's automotive industry supply chain.
