Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WEDZ) is set to launch a new short-haul tourism air route to Shennongjia Forestry District, marking a significant milestone in expanding its low-altitude economic initiatives.
Shennongjia is celebrated for its lush forests and Muyu town, a gateway renowned for its thriving tea industry and tourism attractions. WEDZ and Muyu established a strategic partnership last July to foster cooperation through talent exchange and collaborative projects.
They signed an agreement on June 28 to deepen collaboration across industrial synergy, cultural tourism integration, and public services, striving for comprehensive and profound cooperative development. The new air route is a tangible result of these strengthened ties.
The route has operated safely for over 400 hours and has carried more than 800 passengers since its launch in October 2024.
WEDZ is advancing its modern industrial system, recognizing the low-altitude economy as one of its five key emerging industries. The zone is home to nearly 30 enterprises in this sector and has received approval for 12 regular low-altitude routes, supporting applications such as sightseeing, short-haul transportation, and goods delivery.
