The eighth International Conference on Energy Systems and Electrical Power (ICESEP 2026) was held from June 5 to 7 at the Junshan Campus of Wuhan University of Technology (WUT) in the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WEDZ).

The event attracted nearly 200 experts and scholars from global universities, research institutes, and enterprises to discuss topics such as the energy transition, smart grids, and advanced electrical power technologies.

Xie Changjun, executive dean of WUT's National Graduate College for Engineers, highlighted WUT's strong foundation in the automotive, transportation, and energy sectors, emphasizing that the collaboration between WUT and WEDZ exemplifies the synergy between local industry and academic research.

The conference featured distinguished speakers such as Professor Kashem Muttaqi from the University of Wollongong in Australia, Professor Kwok W. Cheung from KC-Exousia Consulting in the United States, and Professor Xiong Rui from Beijing Institute of Technology, who shared their latest research findings.

Four sub-forums were also held, with 10 guests from institutions such as Wuhan University, Harbin Institute of Technology, and Northeastern University delivering special reports. Meanwhile, more than 60 young scholars showcased their latest research through oral presentations and posters.

Awards for outstanding papers and exceptional young researcher presentations were also handed out, with most recipients being young scholars under the age of 35.
