China Railway Major Bridge Reconnaissance & Design Institute Co (BRDI) signed an agreement on May 25 to establish a bridge industrial software research and development center in Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WEDZ).

BRDI, founded in 1950, is China's sole comprehensive survey and design company specializing in bridges and has been instrumental in the survey and design of over 1,000 large and extra-large bridges globally.

BRDI has developed proprietary bridge industrial software which has been used in the design and construction of numerous large-scale projects, including the Ma'anshan Yangtze River Rail-Road Bridge.

The new center will focus on developing the company's "Qiaotong" and "Linghui" software, along with the Structural Design System for Bridges (SCDS) and other innovative solutions, aiming to create a comprehensive suite of proprietary bridge industrial software products and systematic solutions.

Liu Ziqing, Party secretary of the WEDZ administrative committee, highlighted the zone's commitment to developing a modern industrial system and advancing the digital economy.

He noted that a software industry cluster is beginning to take shape and expressed hope that BRDI will utilize its technological and engineering expertise in bridge design to accelerate the development of a proprietary software product portfolio.

Huang Yanqing, chairman of BRDI, said WEDZ's industrial base, innovation resources, and strategic location make it an attractive place for future investment and cooperation. He added that BRDI plans to deepen its presence and expand operations in the zone.
