A delegation led by Liu Ziqing, Party secretary of the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WEDZ) administrative committee, visited ZF Passive Safety Systems Italy on April 15 and discussed industry development trends and future cooperation with ZF Lifetec's CEO, Rudolf Stark.
ZF Group, a Global Fortune 500 company and one of the world’s top three automotive parts suppliers, specializes in automotive chassis systems, safety technologies, electronic devices, and sensor technologies. ZF Lifetec, established in 2024, focuses on innovative solutions for automotive seat belts, steering wheels, and airbags.
Stark visited WEDZ in 2024 to attend the inauguration of ZF Lifetec's largest airbag production facility in the Asia-Pacific region, which also includes a research and development center serving the global market.
The ZF Lifetec Global Supplier Partner Conference was hosted in the zone in 2025, during which the Automotive Intelligent Safety Industry Innovation Joint Laboratory and the High-Value Patent Cultivation Center for Automotive Intelligent Safety were unveiled, marking significant milestones in their collaboration.
Liu emphasized that the automotive industry is a cornerstone of Wuhan's economy and noted that the city is advancing industrial transformation and upgrading. He expressed hope that ZF Lifetec would increase its investment in Wuhan, deepen cooperation in technology research and development, industrial collaboration, and market expansion, and establish the intelligent collision and safety laboratory.
Stark said his company plans to continue investing in technology, capacity, and talent, utilizing the logistics advantages of the China-Europe Railway Express, support policies, and a comprehensive industrial cluster to help build a safe, intelligent, and sustainable global automotive ecosystem.
