Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WEDZ) has welcomed the Robotic Brain Research Institute to its expanding OPC (One Person Company) ecosystem, as part of efforts to drive its AI industry.

This institute has pioneered three innovative products: a compact chip that can be attached to the body to monitor heart and lung sounds and evaluate health risks; a device utilizing near-infrared light to enhance vein visibility for easier needle insertion; and VR glasses that project acupuncture points, guided by a digital model of traditional Chinese medicine.

These cutting-edge products will enter mass production in the zone, making them accessible to the general public. The decision to commercialize these technological advancements in WEDZ can be attributed to the area's rich talent pool, universities, and logistical advantages in sourcing raw materials and distributing products, said the institute's representative.

WEDZ's dedication to technology transfer and innovation has already led to the successful establishment of several high-level platforms, including institutes specializing in superconducting intelligent equipment and synthetic biology research. The OPC community has nurtured tech giants including Ecarx and SiEngine Technology.

The zone's core AI industry surpassed 15 billion yuan ($2.20 billion) in 2025, accounting for 20 percent of the city's total.

The zone's two OPC communities provide open workspaces, AI computing platforms, and partnerships with organizations such as iFlytek and Jianghan University, aiming to accelerate innovation and commercialization.
