Robert Peugeot, vice-chairman of Stellantis, visited Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WEDZ) on March 3 to discuss expanding the group's operations in China, leading to a mutual agreement with a focus on enhancing collaboration in the new energy vehicle sector and supporting the revitalization of Dongfeng Peugeot Citroen Automobile Co (DPCA).

Liu Ziqing, Party secretary of the WEDZ administrative committee, emphasized the longstanding relationship between WEDZ and Stellantis, highlighting the zone's commitment to advancing new energy, intelligent, and high-end development, aiming to build a comprehensive automotive ecosystem.

Liu hoped that Stellantis would expand its investment in Wuhan, introducing new technologies and projects to transform the zone's automotive industrial chain, emphasizing that authorities are dedicated to fostering a market-oriented, law-based, and international business environment to support enterprise growth.

Peugeot expressed gratitude for WEDZ's strong support and detailed Stellantis' plans for product optimization and market expansion, reaffirming the group's commitment to strengthening collaboration with the zone and Dongfeng, accelerating the transition to new energy, and developing a sustainable model for DPCA.

Peugeot and his team also explored the zone's industrial planning and urban development, experienced autonomous driving technology, and visited Xuanyuan Book Club, gaining an appreciation for the zone's technological innovation and cultural heritage.

Peugeot praised the advancements in autonomous driving and expressed optimism about future collaborative opportunities.

Stellantis, the world's fourth-largest automaker, owns iconic brands such as Peugeot, Citroen, and Chrysler and maintains more than 30 manufacturing bases worldwide. The company partnered with Dongfeng Motor Corporation to establish DPCA in WEDZ in 1992, one of China's pioneering joint-venture automotive enterprises that operates production facilities in Wuhan, Xiangyang, and Chengdu and serves over 6.5 million customers.

Stellantis and Dongfeng agreed in October 2023 to integrate DPCA into Dongfeng's new energy business framework to create a new paradigm and rejuvenate the company.
