Renmin Hospital of Wuhan University has signed an agreement with Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WEDZ) to establish a new branch in the zone, aiming to enhance healthcare services and meet the diverse needs of the local community.
This new branch will feature clinical departments that uphold the service standards of a top-tier hospital, with Renmin Hospital deploying leading medical experts and integrating advanced technologies and treatment protocols to provide comprehensive healthcare solutions.
A key highlight of the new branch is the establishment of an international oncology treatment center specializing in heavy-ion radiation therapy. This includes developing the Heavy Ion Medical Center, the Heavy Ion Oncology Center, and a National Engineering Research Center for Heavy Ions, positioning the branch as a leader in cutting-edge cancer treatment.
Liu Ziqing, Party secretary of the WEDZ administrative committee, expressed optimism about the hospital's role in bringing high-quality medical resources, advanced research platforms, and a mature teaching system to the zone.
He highlighted the urgency of accelerating the construction and operation of the Heavy Ion Medical Center and fostering collaboration between industry, academia, and research.
WEDZ has pledged comprehensive support for the project, including enhancements to housing, education, and transportation infrastructure. The zone is also focused on strengthening the recruitment and retention of medical and healthcare professionals to ensure the branch's high-quality development.
Song Baoliang, executive vice-president of Wuhan University, reaffirmed the university's full support for the hospital's integration into WEDZ and emphasized alignment with regional development strategies and public health needs, the rapid introduction of high-quality medical resources, and the pursuit of breakthroughs in medical technology, discipline development, and talent cultivation.
