CALB Wuhan base in Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WEDZ) achieved a remarkable milestone with its total output surpassing 10 billion yuan ($1.44 billion) in 2025.

The base is CALB's most comprehensive production facility, spanning cells and modules to battery packs and serving diverse markets, including passenger and commercial vehicles and energy storage.

The first three phases of the base are operational, boasting an annual capacity of 40 gigawatt hours for power and energy storage batteries, which are supplied to prominent new energy vehicle models, including those from Dongfeng Motor.

The fourth-phase project is advancing rapidly, focusing on the production of power battery pack systems. It plans to establish six intelligent production lines with an annual capacity of approximately 400,000 units and expects to commence operations this year.

A representative from the base highlighted that the fourth phase will boost the supply of locally manufactured advanced battery packs to power "Made in WEDZ" new energy vehicles, further enhancing the supply chain's self-sufficiency.

CALB has invested in the zone four times over the past five years and plans to continue integrating its technology with Wuhan's diverse applications, fostering the aggregation of the industrial chain, and contributing to the region's green energy and advanced manufacturing.

WEDZ is promoting the automotive industry’s transition toward new energy and intelligent connectivity, aiming to develop a modern industrial cluster encompassing vehicles, energy, software, and materials, and to optimize a high-efficiency supply chain ecosystem within a 50-kilometer radius to provide robust industrial support.
