Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WEDZ) announced the approval of 11 significant investment projects on Jan 4, totaling 10.7 billion yuan ($1.53 billion) and spanning sectors including intelligent connected and electric vehicles, auto parts, green low-carbon initiatives, new materials, and smart manufacturing.

A highlight among these projects is the Dit Automotive Parts Production and R&D Base, which will boast cutting-edge production lines for metal hot forming, internal high-pressure forming, aluminum extrusion, and roll forming.

It aims to produce critical components for new energy vehicles, including body panels, chassis structures, and battery housings, specifically for Geely Auto.

Another significant collaboration involves Visteon, a global leader in automotive electronic components, partnering with Shinry Technologies, a leading supplier in the domestic in-vehicle power supply market, to establish Visteon Shinry (Wuhan) Automotive Electronics Co, dedicated to developing in-vehicle power technology and designed to attract top talent in automotive electronics R&D to the region.

Bada Optical-Electrical plans to establish an intelligent manufacturing base for high-voltage connection systems, with an annual production capacity of 1.5 million units and a projected annual output value of 2 billion yuan by 2030.

Green, low-carbon, and advanced manufacturing initiatives are gaining momentum, with the Sungrow Plant Headquarters focusing on developing zero-carbon parks, green electricity supply, and energy storage, aiming to create a zero-carbon industry cluster platform.

WEDZ has also utilized the electrification and intelligent transformation of the automotive industry to foster the development of clusters in new energy, software, chips, and new materials.
