Four hundred Dongfeng M-Hero off-road vehicles, produced in Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WEDZ), recently cleared customs at Shanghai Port, marking a significant milestone.

These vehicles are now en route to destinations in Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and other Middle Eastern countries, marking a major acceleration in WEDZ's global vehicle export strategy.

This batch of Dongfeng M-Hero 817 totals more than 100 million yuan ($14.21 million). These vehicles maintain their rugged off-road heritage while incorporating advanced intelligent features and high-end customization, meeting Middle Eastern demand for luxury new energy off-road vehicles.

The Middle East remains a pivotal region for Dongfeng Motor's global strategy, with an expanding sales and service network in countries including Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Qatar.

"This is the largest vehicle export from the bonded zone this year, with imports and exports reaching $400 million in the first three quarters of this year, a 220 percent increase over the same period last year,” said a representative from WEDZ Bonded Logistics Service Co.

WEDZ has developed a comprehensive service system for automotive exports, designed to address key challenges in vehicle export customs clearance. Innovations such as "one line, one ticket, multiple vehicles" and QR code-based customs clearance have significantly boosted export efficiency.

The Hannan Port Area has also received approval to temporarily operate as a national first-class port in January. WEDZ has launched automotive roll-on/roll-off services, direct container shipping lines from WEDZ port to Taicang Port in Jiangsu province, and near-sea direct routes to Japan and South Korea.

These initiatives streamline international logistics channels, reduce export logistics costs, and provide robust support for integrating vehicles into major global automotive markets.

Officials from the WEDZ Bonded Zone have announced plans to expedite the upgrade of roll-on/roll-off transport and supporting service facilities at the Hannan Port Area, further optimizing the automotive export service system and establishing a central distribution hub for automotive exports in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River.
