Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WEDZ) has announced the addition of two new key industry intellectual property (IP) operation centers: the Hubei New Energy and Intelligent Connected Vehicle Industry IP Operation Center and the Hubei Advanced Materials and Intelligent Equipment Manufacturing Industry IP Operation Center.
The new energy and intelligent connected vehicle IP center has partnered with over 10 research institutions, integrating patent resources from six universities, including Tsinghua University and Peking University. It has built a comprehensive database of over 40,000 transferable patents.
Meanwhile, the advanced materials IP center will focus on facilitating specialized patent supply and demand matching activities through industry-academia-research collaboration and patent technology recommendation conferences.
The center aims to utilize major exhibitions, high-value patent competitions, and innovation and entrepreneurship contests to broaden patent conversion channels and models.
WEDZ boasts 4,167 authorized patents, including 1,814 invention patents, a 13.4 percent year-on-year increase. Authorized enterprise invention patents have reached 1,728, a 16.7 percent growth.
It holds 12,539 valid invention patents, with 175.6 valid invention patents per 10,000 people. High-value invention patents total 4,000, with 56 high-value invention patents per 10,000 people, up 29.3 percent year-on-year.
The zone has also been recognized as a national-level rapid IP protection center for automobiles and parts, a pilot zone for building a robust national intellectual property system, and a Hubei provincial intellectual property service industry cluster development area.
