Adient, a global leader in automotive seating, has announced the establishment of a new production facility in the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WEDZ).
This state-of-the-art base will combine research, development, and manufacturing of automotive seats.
The facility, scheduled to begin operations in June 2026, is expected to generate an annual revenue of approximately 1 billion yuan ($140 million). The base will focus on supplying high-end seats to local vehicle manufacturers, addressing increasing demand in the new energy vehicle market.
A representative from Adient Wuhan highlighted the strategic advantages of the new base, noting that it will facilitate "minute-level" supply chain responses with customer factories. This capability is expected to reduce logistics costs and enhance service efficiency.
The production base will foster the coordinated development of upstream and downstream enterprises across the supply chain. It is poised to attract more high-quality supporting companies, enhancing WEDZ's competitive edge in the new energy vehicle sector.
Adient ranks among the top 20 automotive parts suppliers, operating in 29 countries with over 200 manufacturing bases and 12 technical centers. The company achieved a global revenue of $14.7 billion in 2024.
In China, Adient operates 37 production bases, eight joint ventures, and three global technical centers, serving more than 40 renowned car manufacturers, including Ford, Volvo, and Lincoln.
