China Automotive Technology & Research Center Co (CATARC) has signed an agreement to establish a new base dedicated to the innovation and testing of new energy and intelligent connected vehicles in Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WEDZ).

This strategic initiative is set to bolster technological advancements and industrial growth, aligning with WEDZ's ambition to become a national hub for manufacturing these advanced vehicles.

The new base is designed to address the evolving needs of the automotive industry, with a focus on research and development, testing, and pilot production. It will serve as a hub for key automotive technology R&D, standard innovation, and technical evaluation, while also functioning as an incubation center for strategic emerging industries.

CATARC, renowned for its leadership in automotive technology research and development, standard setting, and testing, has maintained a presence in WEDZ since 2006.

Through its subsidiary, CATARC Automotive Test Center (Wuhan) Co, the organization has developed cutting-edge testing laboratories for vehicles and components, including advanced facilities for new energy testing.

CATARC has also established its Central China Branch Center in WEDZ, offering intellectual support and technical services to the automotive industry across Central China.

WEDZ has made significant progress in new energy and intelligent connected vehicles. By attracting premier testing organizations, such as Da’an Technology and Suzhou Testing, and by establishing a testing alliance, WEDZ is creating a national high-tech service cluster for inspection and testing, empowering the transformation and upgrading of the automotive industry.
