Houguan Lake Area in the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WEDZ) is undergoing a significant transformation as authorities push forward with plans to develop it into a dynamic headquarters hub.

This ambitious project is set to feature five distinct zones: a headquarters district, an industry-urban integration demonstration zone, an innovation economic belt, a financial services zone, and a business leisure zone.

A major milestone has been achieved with the construction of the iFlytek Central China Headquarters, where two office buildings covering 40,000 square meters are nearing completion. The first group of 600 employees is expected to move in by the end of the year.

The area is home to over 20 headquarters enterprises, including Dongfeng Motor Corporation and eπ Technology. More than 20 key projects, such as iFlytek, have already been established, with a total revenue exceeding 8 billion yuan ($1.11 billion).

At the core of this development is Jingkai Boxin Private Isle, a comprehensive urban complex that combines high-rise offices, international commerce, lakeside villas, and high-end residences.

The complex, targeting cutting-edge industries like the digital economy, new energy, and intelligent connected vehicle sectors, has attracted the iFlytek Central China Headquarters and is in preliminary discussions with several leading enterprises.

Located less than a kilometer away, the China Urban and Rural Headquarters Economic Industrial Park is set to feature top-tier headquarters buildings and low-density offices, backed by a total investment of approximately 5.8 billion yuan.

The Innovation Economic Belt will focus on sectors such as intelligent manufacturing, the metaverse, new materials, and cultural creativity.

WEDZ is also enhancing the infrastructure of the area by advancing connectivity projects and undertaking comprehensive improvements of the lakeside area.

Authorities are committed to attracting benchmark projects and enhancing the area's residential and transportation facilities, aiming to make it a model of industry-city integration.

The goal is to host 15,000 market entities by 2030, achieve a total investment scale of 83 billion yuan, and reach a revenue of 160 billion yuan.
