The Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WEDZ) is poised to launch 20 new energy vehicle (NEV) models by the end of this year.

This ambitious initiative is part of WEDZ's ongoing efforts to stimulate NEV consumption and foster new growth in the automotive market. The zone is a hub for the automotive industry, housing 10 vehicle manufacturers, 14 vehicle factories, and over 1,400 auto parts enterprises.

WEDZ has been instrumental in helping leading companies like Dongfeng Motor and Lotus Cars expedite the release of new NEV models. In the first half of the year, the zone launched 10 new models, including the Voyah Dream and Voyah Free+, leading to a 58 percent year-on-year increase in NEV production.

WEDZ has developed an autonomous driving urban landscape belt and is accelerating the development of two major consumer hubs. These initiatives aim to create new trends and offer fresh platforms for NEV consumption.

The zone has also introduced Uxin Used Cars and is establishing Central China's largest used car market to further boost automotive consumption.

In addition, it is creating a live-streaming e-commerce base and an immersive digital showroom to enhance brand recognition and market reach.

The zone will host the 2025 China Auto Series Championship in October. This event is part of a broader plan to develop a sports town that integrates international top-tier sporting events, automotive culture displays, and leisure activities.

WEDZ is facilitating market penetration by establishing direct overseas shipping routes, significantly reducing logistics costs. In the first half of the year, 75,000 vehicles were exported from the zone, showcasing its growing global footprint.

WEDZ also hosted a series of promotional events, including the automotive brand global launch and the issuing of automotive consumption vouchers totaling 100 million yuan ($13.92 million).
