WEDZ achieves vehicle export milestone

The comprehensive bonded zone within Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WEDZ) has achieved a major milestone by exporting 23,000 vehicles over the past year, with a total export value surpassing 1.6 billion yuan ($223.34 million).

This bonded zone offers substantial benefits for vehicle exporters, including tax rebate policies, accelerated capital turnover, and flexible vehicle shipment arrangements, all of which contribute to minimizing operational costs.

The zone is renowned for its focus on high-end and environmentally friendly vehicle exports. Premium products, including pure electric heavy trucks and hydrogen fuel commercial vehicles, now account for 45 percent of exports and are shipped to over 20 countries and regions.

To bolster vehicle exports, customs authorities have implemented several innovative regulatory models. The "one ticket, multiple vehicles" model enables companies to efficiently manage import and export procedures for multiple batches, based on transport needs and cost considerations, reducing transportation costs by 30 percent and doubling logistics efficiency.

Dai Shengyun, head of the supervision section at Hanyang Customs, said authorities will optimize communication mechanisms to address the challenges faced by enterprises during the export process and provide tailored solutions.

The aim is to guide companies in understanding and applying customs policies, enhancing customs facilitation, and enabling more WEDZ-manufactured vehicles to reach international markets.
