The Wuhan Production Service National Logistics Hub, selected as part of the 2025 National Logistics Hub Development Plan, will be located in the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WEDZ).

The hub will integrate six core functions: trunk logistics organization, multimodal transport transfer, regional distribution and delivery, international logistics, integrated logistics services, and supply chain services. It will also offer four auxiliary functions of logistics and supply chain finance, platform services, emergency logistics, and bonded logistics.

By 2030, the hub aims to exceed 10 million metric tons in cargo throughput, reduce average enterprise logistics costs by over 12 percent, and increase the proportion of trunk transportation to more than 30 percent.

Wang Yaofei, director of the Logistics Institute at the Wuhan Modern Logistics Research Institute, emphasized that the hub will facilitate the integration of the logistics and manufacturing sectors. This integration is expected to foster a high-quality supply chain logistics system, boost cost efficiency, and support the development of the zone’s automotive industry.

National logistics hubs are vital for allocating logistics resources and coordinating activities, serving as key nodes, important platforms, and backbones for the national logistics network. They are classified into six types: land port, seaport, airport, production service, trade service, and border port.

Since 2020, Wuhan has established a seaport, a land port, an airport, a trade service hub, and a production service hub. Besides Wuhan, only Chongqing has established the five types of national logistics hubs nationwide.
