The China Electronics Cloud (CEC) R&D Base in Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WEDZ) is expected to be operational by September.

This cutting-edge facility will offer customized, secure, and intelligent computing solutions for AI enterprises, large model companies, and academic research institutions.

The base, with an investment of 5 billion yuan ($696.15 million), is being developed in two phases. It will focus on core technologies, including artificial intelligence, cloud platforms, and big data, to establish a comprehensive technology and service ecosystem.

China Electronics (CE) provides high-security digital infrastructure for major national projects, government bodies, and critical industries. In WEDZ, CE has launched projects such as the Digital Economy Industrial Park, CEC Headquarters, and the Wuhan Trusted Intelligent Computing Center.

These initiatives are driving the development of the zone's smart communities and intelligent parks and facilitating its digital transformation and upgrade.

A WEDZ representative highlighted that the R&D base will concentrate on areas such as digital government, intelligent manufacturing, smart connected vehicles, and smart healthcare, with a focus on reducing AI application costs and enhancing computing efficiency.
