Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WEDZ) has attracted 23 new projects in the automotive industrial chain during the first half of this year, encompassing vehicle manufacturing, core components, intelligent driving, and aftermarket services.
Among these is Su Shi Testing Central China Headquarters, which is poised to commence operations next year. The 1.4 billion yuan ($194.98 million) facility is committed to providing manufacturing enterprises with comprehensive digital upgrade services.
The facility will specialize in safety testing, materials analysis, and integrated circuit failure analysis for sectors including new energy vehicles and semiconductors. It is scheduled to open by the third quarter of 2026.
To further improve the vehicle-to-component ratio, currently at 0.68:1, WEDZ has attracted significant projects from companies like Dongfeng Nammi and Linquan Automotive. For chips, software, and autonomous driving, the zone has welcomed R&D initiatives from Aotecar Thermal Management and PhiGent Robotics.
WEDZ has also introduced projects in the automotive aftermarket, such as the Sande Home Automotive Brand Live Streaming Center and Stellantis Financial Leasing.
