On June 10, Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WEDZ) auctioned a prime residential land parcel for 469 million yuan ($65.25 million), with a floor price of 6,966 yuan per square meter. Wuhan Changwan Real Estate Development Co, a joint venture between Wuhan Yangtze Investment and industry giant Vanke, made the winning bid.
This 26,935-square-meter plot, located in the heart of WEDZ, offers a construction area of 67,337 square meters. It is situated near prominent educational institutions, including Jianghan University and Wuhan Foreign Languages School, as well as major commercial centers such as Wanda Plaza.
Key public service facilities, including the Wuhan Sports Center, WEDZ Administrative Service Center, and the Union Hospital WEDZ Campus, are also nearby.
"The active participation of several renowned real estate companies and industrial capital in the bidding process highlights the market's strong confidence in the region's development potential," said a representative from the WEDZ natural resources and urban-rural development bureau.
WEDZ is dedicated to its vision of becoming the "China Auto Valley", focusing on developing a modern, livable city that integrates industry and urban living. Significant industrial projects are underway, accompanied by rapid improvements in educational, medical, and transportation facilities.
Key developments include the Wuhan Intelligent Automobile Software Park, Dongfeng Motor Global Innovation Center, and the iFlytek Central China Headquarters. These initiatives will focus on the digital economy, new energy, intelligent connected vehicles, modern finance, and smart construction.
The Union Hospital WEDZ Campus and Tongji Junshan Hospital continue to expand their medical resources and specialty departments to meet the diverse healthcare needs of their patients. The campuses of Huazhong University of Science and Technology and Wuhan University of Technology in Junshan New City are also gathering quality educational resources.
Furthermore, 34 green spaces and 54 parks have been completed, with Longling Mountain Ecological Park and Zhushan Fishing and Sports Park becoming popular destinations for residents.
