On May 21, the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WEDZ) Jianghan University Women's Soccer Team triumphed 2-0 over Vietnam's Ho Chi Minh City Women's Team in the semifinal of the inaugural AFC Women's Club Championship.
Launched by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) in 2024, the Women's AFC Champions League mirrors the prestigious men's tournament. The WEDZ team qualified as champions of the 2023 Chinese Women's Super League.
In October 2024, during the group stage in Wuhan, the WEDZ team advanced to the quarterfinals as one of the best third-place teams. In March 2025, they faced a formidable challenge against Japan's Urawa Red Diamonds Ladies, a favorite to win the tournament. After a grueling 120-minute match and a tense penalty shootout, WEDZ secured their place in the semifinals.

In the 34th minute, Teresa's right-wing cross was poorly cleared, allowing Wang Shuang to score the opening goal. In the 54th minute, Song Duan extended the lead with a powerful long-range shot, sealing the 2-0 victory.
With this win, WEDZ advances to the final at 8 pm on May 24, where they will face the winner between Melbourne City Women and Hyundai Steel Red Angels at Wuhan Sports Center.
