Junshan New City in Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WEDZ) is transforming into a futuristic technology hub with the integration of autonomous vehicles and smart infrastructure.
This evolution is spearheaded by the National Intelligent Connected Vehicle (Wuhan) Testing Demonstration Zone, which boasts China's largest 5G-enabled vehicle-road collaboration area, encompassing over 100 application scenarios.
The zone has demonstrated Dongfeng Frica Blue's advanced autonomous driving capabilities in complex environments, showcasing the benefits of vehicle-road-cloud integration.
In April, four new autonomous shuttle bus routes were introduced, linking key sectors such as education, well-being, commuting, and tourism.
In addition, the zone's Car City Network uses V2X, LoRa, and 5G technologies, supported by over 1,800 smart sensors for environmental monitoring. This digital twin technology harmonizes static and dynamic data, enhancing smart city services, intelligent transportation, and autonomous vehicle safety.
A WEDZ representative highlighted that this integration is a central achievement of Wuhan's "Smart Vehicles and Intelligent Infrastructure" initiative, offering robust data support for the synergy between intelligent vehicles and smart cities.
Junshan New City now stands as a pivotal center for autonomous vehicle testing and operations, covering 15 diverse application scenarios.
