Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WEDZ) has secured spots for two proof-of-concept centers and two pilot platforms, according to the proposed first batch of Wuhan Proof-of-Concept Centers and Technological Achievement Transformation Pilot Platforms for 2025.

Proof-of-concept centers serve as platforms that provide services ranging from technical to commercial feasibility verification and marketization for scientific and technological achievements.

The two centers are based at the Wuhan Institute of Advanced Technology (WIAT) and Jianghan University. WIAT focuses on the research and validation of electronic information materials and new energy materials and is equipped with five major R&D centers and a series of laboratory facilities.

Jianghan University is dedicated to cross-disciplinary innovation in the field of high-end equipment, collaborating with Hubei Retlife Rehabilitation Equipment Manufacturing Co to develop intelligent medical devices such as smart anti-shake spoons and bipedal exoskeleton robots.

Technological achievement transformation pilot platforms act as bridges between scientific research results and industrial applications, playing a key role in overcoming the "last mile" of achievement transformation.

The Wuhan High-Energy Density Battery Explosion Prevention Material Pilot Platform, based at Jianghan University, comprises six primary functions: the development of explosion prevention materials, technology verification, pilot-scale up, safety testing, data analysis, and safety warning. This platform offers pilot services for the development of lithium/sodium-ion battery electrodes and electrolytes, as well as for the prevention of explosions.

The Spherical Powder Metal Material Forming Pilot Platform focuses on laser and additive manufacturing technologies, including metal powder design and preparation, multi-material equipment development, and the construction of performance evaluation systems.
