On April 21, Union Hospital's branch in the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WEDZ) launched its new International Medical Center, significantly enhancing healthcare services for foreign residents in Wuhan.

"The new medical area is fantastic; it's now much easier for my foreign friends to see a doctor," said Cheryl deMena, a physician from the United States, as she admired the state-of-the-art facilities.

Since opening its general international clinic in 2012, the WEDZ branch has served over 11,000 patients and expanded its offerings to include French and Japanese clinics, along with specialized medical services for domestic patients.

The facility has partnered with over 10 commercial insurance companies to provide a comprehensive one-stop medical solution that covers both outpatient and inpatient services for both domestic and international patients.

"The new international medical area covers approximately 3,800 square meters and features multilingual guidance, private waiting rooms, and cross-cultural communication services. It has also established remote consultation partnerships with overseas medical institutions," said Wang Hongbo, deputy Party secretary of Union Hospital.

Wang added that the facility offers direct insurance billing, allowing foreign patients to use international medical insurance without upfront payments or complex reimbursement processes.

"For 13 years, the international clinic has delivered comprehensive services to expatriate staff members and their families, ensuring they live comfortably in WEDZ," noted Li Saili, a representative of the Wuhan Yangtze International School.
