A global launch event for Wuhan-made automotive brands was held on Feb 23 in the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WEDZ). The event showcased the latest achievements of Voyah, Dongfeng Honda, Dongfeng MHero, Lotus Cars, and Dongfeng Passenger Vehicles.

Tang Chao, director of the WEDZ administrative committee, announced ambitious plans for the zone. Over the next three years, WEDZ aims to launch one to two new cars each quarter, with prices ranging from 50,000 yuan ($6,900) to over 1 million yuan.

Representatives of Voyah, Dongfeng Honda, and Lotus Cars presented their brands and highlighted their latest innovations. The China Car Valley Brand Operation Center unveiled new policies and measures to boost consumer spending.

In recent years, WEDZ has focused on the burgeoning fields of new energy vehicles (NEVs) and intelligent connected vehicles. The zone has accelerated the automotive industry's transformation, enhanced industrial capacity, and expanded the influence of the Car Valley automotive brand.

WEDZ houses 10 NEV plants and over 1,200 well-known parts manufacturers, forming a comprehensive next-generation automotive industry ecosystem. This ecosystem includes complete vehicles, new energy and power systems, car bodies and new materials, intelligent driving, infrastructure, and aftermarket services.

In 2024, the zone produced 310,000 NEVs, a 66 percent increase from the previous year. On average, one new car was launched monthly, covering a product range from mainstream to high-end and luxury segments.
