In 2024, the Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone (WEDZ) reached a significant milestone with a production output of 300,000 new energy vehicles (NEVs) and over 120,000 vehicles exported.

To support the development of Dongfeng Motor Co, WEDZ offered up its administrative office building to be used for the company's global innovation center. WEDZ has also assisted Dongfeng in organizing automobile consumption promotion activities in cities like Lanzhou and Nanyang, and in expanding into overseas markets like Spain and Italy.

In recent years, faced with a sharp decline in the production and sales of joint venture and traditionally fuel vehicles, the zone has been working diligently towards electrification, intelligent technology, and connectivity. In 2024, two NEV manufacturing plants were established, with an average of one new model launched every month.

Jiang Hanping, vice president of technology at SiEngine Technology Co, shared, "When our company was founded in 2018, we had no space or funding. During our toughest times, WEDZ provided us with incubation space and startup capital."

WEDZ has already fostered several unicorn companies like SiEngine Tech, and at the Wuhan Intelligent Automobile Software Park, over 200 upstream and downstream enterprises have gathered, attracting more than 30,000 software talents.
