On Oct 25, the 18th Hubei-Wuhan Taiwan Week hosted the Cross-Strait (Wuhan) New Energy and Intelligent Connected Vehicle Industry Integration Development Forum in the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WEDZ).
Over 300 guests from Taiwan and the Chinese mainland gathered in WEDZ, known as China Auto Valley, to discuss opportunities and pathways for integrating new energy and intelligent connected vehicle industries.
At the event, Dongfeng Motor Corporation's R&D Center signed a cooperation agreement with the Cross-Strait (Wuhan) Vehicle Technology Innovation Alliance.
According to the agreement, the alliance will organize leading Taiwan companies in integrated circuits, software systems integration, and automotive electronics to collaborate with Dongfeng's R&D Center. This initiative will guide Taiwan firms into Dongfeng's auto parts supply chain, enhancing local supply rates and achieving mutual benefits.
The Cross-Strait (Wuhan) Vehicle Technology Innovation Alliance, a significant outcome of the 17th Hubei-Wuhan Taiwan Week, has attracted nearly 100 upstream and downstream enterprises in the automotive industry from Taiwan and the Chinese mainland.
These enterprises span electronics, auto parts, and intelligent connectivity sectors, collectively promoting the integration of the automotive industries in Hubei and Taiwan.
The alliance plans to continue its efforts in technological industrialization, scale expansion, enterprise incubation, and investment and talent attraction. It aims to invite renowned vehicle manufacturers in Wuhan, establish extensive connections among auto parts enterprises, and strengthen collaboration among auto parts manufacturers.
The zone currently hosts nearly 30 Taiwan enterprises, which generated nearly 10 billion yuan ($1.40 billion) in output last year and employed over 5,000 people. These enterprises have become crucial bridges and forces in promoting exchanges and integration between Hubei and Taiwan.
