WEDZ launches low-altitude air routes to Shiyan, Jingzhou

On Oct 15, Wuhan Hannan Airport in the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WEDZ) launched low-altitude short-haul passenger flights to Shiyan and Jingzhou. The routes are the first of their kind from the airport. 

The Wuhan-Shiyan route operates on Tuesdays and Thursdays, departing at 10:00 am. and arriving at Shiyan at 12:30 pm. The return flight departs at 2:00 pm. and arrives at 4:30 pm. 

The Wuhan-Jingzhou route operates on Wednesdays, departing at 12:30 pm and arriving at 1:30 pm. The return flight departs at 3:00 pm and lands at 4:00 pm. 

Tickets can be booked through the airport's WeChat account, the Chutian General Aviation WeChat account, or the Umetrip app. Passengers can also book aerial sightseeing tours, aviation sports, and flight training programs. 

From now until Nov 15, promotional ticket prices are just 99 yuan ($13.91) per person. The current aircraft, the Kodiak 100, can accommodate six passengers per flight. However, the type of aircraft will be adjusted based on demand. 

The airport, which has been operational since 2017, serves multiple functions, including aviation sports, general aviation operations, and aircraft assembly. It has also hosted international events like the World Fly-in Expo. 

The airport now focuses on low-altitude economic development, targeting industries such as manufacturing, application scenarios, and comprehensive service assurance.

On the same day, the zone inaugurated its Low-Altitude Economic Industrial Park, which aims to accelerate the development of a comprehensive low-altitude economy and foster the growth of general aviation and related industries.
