Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WEDZ) recently witnessed the roar of engines at its smart-connected vehicle testing ground.

Among the drivers was Wang Yang, a professional race car driver, who expressed his excitement after completing a lap. "The experience here is fantastic, on par with other professional tracks in the country," Wang said, giving a thumbs-up.

Wang was participating in the inaugural open day of the Wuhan International Circuit, a soon-to-be-certified F2-level international track that has entered its trial operation phase. The event attracted many racing enthusiasts and nearly 100 local professional drivers eager to experience the Fast and Furious thrill close to home.

The circuit spans 4,290 meters and is the first eco-friendly international secondary track built along a natural riverside in the country. It features 17 turns and resembles a butterfly in flight.

In August, the zone signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Zhejiang Geely Mintimes Technology Group Co. The company has taken over the Wuhan International Circuit operations and will focus on sports competitions.

The FIA is currently certifying the Wuhan International Circuit as a secondary track. Meanwhile, Mintimes is preparing test races to fully assess the circuit's capabilities.

In addition to races, various commercial activities, large-scale music festivals, and other projects have been included in the operational scope, aiming to gradually establish a new commercial platform centered around the track.
