The Phase I facility of the Dajunshan Sci-tech Innovation Park opened on Oct 6 in the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WEDZ).
Located adjacent to the Junshan campuses of Huazhong University of Science and Technology and Wuhan University of Technology, the 300-million-yuan ($42.50 million) park covers approximately 321 mu (21.4 hectares) with a total building area of 65,500 square meters.
According to authorities, the park features an innovation and creativity axis, a scenic landscape belt, a university-enterprise co-creation platform, R&D innovation clusters, eco-manufacturing clusters, lifestyle service clusters, and headquarters economy clusters.
Phase II will involve actively engaging with various enterprises to accommodate their needs. Construction is slated to begin within the year and completion is expected by June next year.
The zone's Future-Tech Innovation Institute will also establish its presence in the park, further enhancing the pilot base construction and driving regional innovation development.
By using the two universities' educational resources, the park plans to establish a direct investment fund for tech innovation, build a robust university-enterprise co-creation platform, and focus on the localization of scientific and technological achievements.
Aiming to become a hub for industry, academia, and research collaboration, the park will focus on strategic emerging industries such as new energy vehicles, intelligent connected vehicles, artificial intelligence, and new materials.
