Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone, or WEDZ, signed an agreement with Higentec Co, establishing the Central China branch of the National Molecular Breeding Innovation Service Platform in the zone on Aug 2.
Higentec Co is now positioned in Wuhan, capital of Central China's Hubei province.
As such, it's a leading company in molecular breeding and agricultural informatics in China – serving as the national molecular breeding innovation service platform.
In short, its expertise spans over 240 species, including crops, livestock, aquatics, fruits, vegetables, forestry, flowers, medicinal plants and microorganisms.
Annually, Higentec provides over 1,000 technical services to more than 800 industry, academic, and research users.
Under the agreement, the WEDZ and Higentec will work hard in molecular breeding and agricultural informatics to build the Central China branch of the National Molecular Breeding Innovation Service Platform.
The branch will be located in the Modern Sci-Tech Agriculture Industrial Park of the zone – featuring two main facilities: A bio-seeds industry innovation platform and a modern seed industry breeding base.
It will include seven functional areas focused on molecular breeding research, technical validation, industry promotions and market enablement.
