Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WEDZ) launched an initiative to strengthen the integration of cross-border e-commerce with its automotive industry on July 10.
Over 200 experts and representatives from the cross-border e-commerce sector gathered to draft a new blueprint for the development and cooperation of the "Cross-border E-commerce + Automotive Industry" model.
In a report Zhang Wei, former deputy head of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, emphasized that the model significantly bolstered the competitiveness of local industries and promoted the in-depth integration and comprehensive upgrading of the industry supply chain.
Zhang underscored the need to leverage the diverse models of cross-border e-commerce, strengthen supply chain coordination and gradually improve the cross-border logistics system to adapt to emerging industrial trends.
During the event, the WEDZ's Comprehensive Bonded Zone and Port Logistics Park staged investment promotions. As a high-level open platform, the park boasts three first-class open port operations areas. It has attracted leading automotive logistics companies – such as Dongfeng Logistics Group, Shengze Jietong and Changjiu Logistics, as well as supply chain giants like Hubei Guokong and Hubei Chuxiang.
The park focuses on developing bonded processing, bonded e-commerce and bonded logistics. It's building an international automobile export consolidation center and fostering the "Cross-border E-commerce + Automotive Industry " to support the overseas expansion of the local automotive and auto parts industry.
The park also features a cross-border e-commerce center, where business enterprises can make use of bonded warehousing and free storage and get immediate tax rebates on entry.
A local official noted that the WEDZ is currently home to 24 auto assembly plants and will implement measures to help more local companies to expand their operations overseas, the official added.
Representatives from the consulates of South Korea, the United Kingdom and the Japan External Trade Organization in Wuhan attended the event.
