A fleet of cars for the "From Palace Museum to Versailles" event arrived in Wuhan, Central China's Hubei province, on April 21.
In 1931, the Citroën fleet departed from France, spent 10 months crossing Eurasia and traveling about 12,000 kilometers, to reach its destination: the Palace Museum in China. In 1992, China's automaker Dongfeng and France-based Citroën co-founded Dongfeng Peugeot-Citroën Automobile Ltd (DPCA) in the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WEDZ). Wuhan has now become one of the cities with the most French-funded companies in China, and is among the earliest cities in the country to have established French language courses.
This major Sino-French tourism activity has been recognized by the Consulate General of France in Wuhan, as it pays tribute to the 1931 journey, as well as the 60-year anniversary of the establishment of Sino-French diplomatic relations.
A fleet of cars have set off from the Palace Museum to the Versailles. Wuhan is one of the most important stops for this journey. And after its short stay, the fleet will drive through Chengdu, Kashgar, Italy, Switzerland, and will finally reach the Versailles in France.
