The Midea Industrial Park owned by Midea Group is located in the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone, or WEDZ.
The industrial park, which covers an area of 53 hectares, is the third production facility for Midea's air conditioner operations after those established in Shunde and Wuhu, with a total investment of nearly 800 million yuan ($114.10 million).
In Wuhan and Wuhu there are domestic sales bases for Midea's air conditioners and one in Shunde serves overseas markets as an export sales base.
The Wuhan facility has been positioned as the largest air-conditioning research and development center on the Chinese mainland, providing support for technological upgrades and even industrial upgrades of the air-conditioning industry.
It has had an annual production capacity of 3 million units of air conditioners since 2005.
On June 13, 2016, the world's most intelligent air-conditioning external machine production line was put into operation at the plant located in the Midea Industrial Park.
The production line is 130 meters long and has 46 robots and 30 workers. The production line has an automation rate of about 60 percent -- and even the processes of packing box sealings and packing string binding are completed by robots.
There are about 70 processes involved, from chassis and shell assembly to final packaging.
