The Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone (WEDZ) plans to improve the technological level of equipment manufacturing and prioritizes the development of basic manufacturing industries -- including high-precision numerical control machine tools, large-scale computer numerical control, or CNC forming stamping equipment and clean and efficient casting and heat treatments.
Officials from the WEDZ -- located in Wuhan city in Central China's Hubei province -- said the zone is set to see the construction of a Gree Intelligent Equipment Industrial Park for 5 billion yuan ($706 million).
The industrial park, covering an area of 100 hectares, will be established in three phases. It is expected to be completed by 2020.
The project will mainly involve the research and development, production and sales of industrial robots, intelligent automation equipment, high-end CNC machine tools, precision molds, large commercial air conditioners and air conditioner compressors.
After the project is completed and put into production, it is expected that the annual output value will reach 10 billion yuan.
Officials said the park will promote the development of about 20 Gree supporting companies in the WEDZ, create nearly 7,000 jobs and pay annual taxes of 400 million yuan.
