The Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone (WEDZ) is introducing and incubating businesses closely related to smart industries – according to WEDZ officials.
They said these include photo-communications, next generation information technology and equipment, integrated circuits, information technology service, e-commerce and digital publishing.
On Nov 21, 2019, overseas Chinese people from countries including Germany, the United States and France gathered for a conference in the zone – located in Wuhan in Central Hubei province -- on next generation automotive and information technology.
The conference was part of the 2019 Conference on Overseas Chinese Pioneering and Developing in China.
The conference aimed to discuss development trends for next generation auto and information technology, as well as introducing more international projects to WEDZ.
The event included the unveiling of fresh industry and recruitment policies, as well as project roadshows.
In recent years, with the tremendous changes taking place in the global automotive industry, the WEDZ has proposed starting a second phase of its entrepreneurial journey and promoting the transformation and upgrading of the auto sector.
Officials said this comes as the next generation of information technology – represented by the internet, big data and artificial intelligence – continues to change all aspects of our daily lives.
Officials said the WEDZ is focusing on key enterprises, key technologies and professionals.
It is rolling out preferential policies, providing quality services and creating a better business environment to promote international scientific and technological cooperation and exchanges.
The zone is actively introducing recruitment of international talent and establishing itself as a new highland for the next generation of the auto industry.
According to WEDZ officials, the zone is constantly upgrading its industry, talent and innovation policies.
It is providing up to 5 million yuan ($710,914) in funds, equity investments and free apartments for top talent and industry leaders. For particularly important projects, there is no upper limit to the amount of funding, officials said.
More than 80 percent of WEDZ-based companies are qualified to enjoy preferential policies.
In addition, national key universities and research institutes will be given up to 100 million yuan per year for the construction of industrial and research institutes and innovation centers.
