A provincial work conference for the nine national economic and technological development zones in Central China's Hubei province was held on Jan 30 in the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WEDZ).

Representatives of these economic and technological development zones were invited to learn about the current development of WEDZ's new energy and intelligent connected vehicle industry. They were also introduced to the zone's advanced business and investment promotion practices.

The 2023 evaluation results of national economic and technological development zones indicated that WEDZ's ranking was up by eight positions. It now sits in the 18th position out of all of China's national economic and technological development zones, and the second position in Central China in terms of comprehensive strength.

The latest data shows that the nine national economic and technological development zones in Hubei occupy less than 1 percent of the province's land area. However, these zones have contributed 14 percent of the province's GDP, 22 percent of its export and import volume, and 38 percent of its foreign investment. WEDZ alone has accumulated nearly 470 foreign-funded enterprises, including more than 30 overseas Fortune 500 companies.

At the meeting, Li Haifeng, chief operating officer of Chebailian (Wuhan) Digital Technology Co, introduced that his research team is now building the 1.0 version of the auto industrial brain for WEDZ's Intelligent Connected and Electric Vehicle Industrial Park. "If the business promotion work is divided into 10 steps, the AI smart investment promotion platform can actually help finish the initial 3-5 steps, boosting work efficiency," said Li.
