Statistics show that the number of high-tech enterprises in the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WEDZ) quadrupled from 331 in 2020 to over 1,700 in 2023.
The newly recognized high-tech enterprises in the zone mainly span intelligent connected vehicles, auto software, new energy and energy reservation, advanced manufacturing, and new materials. They are located mainly in the Modern Service Industrial Park, Smart Manufacturing Industrial Park, Intelligent Connected and Electric Vehicle Industrial Park, and Junshan New City.
As a domestic high-tech new energy vehicle (NEV) maker, VOYAH rolled its 50,000th car in 2023 off the production line last month. Since last June, VOYAH's monthly sales surged from fewer than 1,000 to 10,000 vehicles. Meanwhile, its production models have been well-received in developed countries, including Norway, Finland and Denmark.
Over the past two years, WEDZ has released a slew of new policies, including 33 policies for sci-tech innovation. The number of enterprise incubators in the zone has also risen from 10 to 34, and its business environment has been further improved, with online government services and 24-hour special services for targeted enterprises now available. Over 70 high-level technology licensing organizations have been brought in to provide professional services to enterprises in need.
So far, the zone's ownership of high-value invention patents reached 30.6 patents per 10,000 people, far higher than the average of other national economic and development zones.
