The 2023 China Auto Supply Chain Conference and the second China New Energy Vehicle (NEV) and Intelligent Connected Vehicle (ICV) Ecosystem Meeting concluded on Nov 12 in the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WEDZ).
The two-day event featured insightful speeches of more than 100 industry insiders, with the participation of over 1,000 elites from China's automotive sector.
The rapid development of new energy and smart technologies is restructuring the entire automotive industrial chain. It has become the nation's task to fulfill to set up a safe, controllable, sustainable, resilient, and coordinated auto supply chain system.
The conference comprised one special strategy summit, one main forum, and nine themed sub-forums.
It was officially unveiled on Nov 11 when the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers released a research report on China's auto supply chain layout and safety. This report holds significance for the central government's macro policy formulation, industrial chain optimization, regional governments' investment promotion, regional economy development, and automakers' business transformation.
As the host of the conference, WEDZ presented eight measures to advance high-quality development of new energy and intelligent connected vehicles, as well as core automotive component sectors. These measures include allocating a fund of 3 billion yuan ($417.9 million) annually to reward related enterprises and research institutions.

WEDZ has hosted the conference twice since 2022. "The zone's auto supply chain development is truly impressive," said Fu Bingfeng, standing vice chairman and secretary general of the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers.
