Over the past week, the Intelligent Connected and Electric Vehicle Industrial Park, located in the Shamao area of Hannan district, and administered by the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WEDZ), has ushered in three major industrial projects.
According to recent data, the industrial park has experienced a significant increase in investment over the first three months of this year. Specifically, it has achieved 8.73 billion yuan ($1.24 billion), which is a surge of 391 percent. In addition, it recorded 25 million yuan of foreign direct investment, up 1250 percent year-on-year.
In the near future, the Shamao area will have a 100-billion-yuan new energy vehicle (NEV) industrial corridor to beef up the Hannan district's economy.
In this area, three multi-purpose port areas have been established on the 28-kilometer-long (17.4-mile) Yangtze River (Shamao section), and many expressways and highways also converge there.
Along the Shamao Road, which is less than 7 km, Lotus, Xpeng, and other NEV companies, as well as CALB, W-Happi, and other giant auto spare parts providers, have set up plants.
Adhering to the "3335" industrial development strategy, the Intelligent Connected and Electric Vehicle Industrial Park will mainly develop next-generation automobiles, smart manufacturing, new energy and materials, and productive supporting services. So far, it has gathered more than 800 enterprises.
