On April 20, the EFI China R&D center and its second manufacturing plant project broke ground in the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WEDZ).
As one of the zone's long-term business partners, EFI specializes in the design and manufacture of sensors, activators and actuators to improve powertrain and transmission efficiency, while also developing e-mobility and better vehicle dynamics.
It established its only subsidiaries in WEDZ in 2004, which have now become China's largest providers of automobile gearboxes and sensors.
This new project is expected to be completed in September 2024, and once in operation, will mainly deal with the research and production of automotive sensors, actuators, and spare parts for new energy vehicles (NEVs). Some of these products will be exported to the Asian-Pacific and European regions.

Béatrice Schmidt, CEO of EFI, highlighted the significance of the new project to the whole company, and spoke highly of China's NEV market potential. She said that they will continue to develop high-performance automotive products that meet market demands to facilitate China's high-quality development.
