The new branch of the National Intelligent Design and CNC Technology Innovation Center (NCDC) in the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WEDZ) was established on Feb 25, according to local news reports.
The new branch will be jointly managed by the administrative committee of the zone, the NCDC, and the Wuhan Intelligent Control Research Institute. It was designed to focus on intelligent connected vehicle control, lightweight design and manufacturing systems, the development of related innovative products, and the cultivation of high-end talent.
Zhou Ji, an academician from the Chinese Academy of Engineering, will provide in-depth guidance on how to build the branch into a top vehicle control center. In his speech during the celebration for the new branch, Zhou highlighted the zone's status as the leader of the Wuhan-Xiangyang-Shiyan-Suizhou automobile industrial cluster.
The NCDC was initiated by the Huazhong University of Science and Technology in June 2022, and is committed to three development directions – basic industrial software in smart system design, high-end numerical control, and basic industrial software in smart manufacturing systems.
