The 2021 list of top 100 Wuhan manufacturers and industrial parks in terms of industrial output per mu (0.07 hectare) was released by the Wuhan government recently, and 30 enterprises based in the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WEDZ) made the list, ranking first in the city.

Five of the top 10 industrial performers on the list are from WEDZ, including Cummins – an American multinational corporation that designs, manufactures, and distributes engines, filtration systems, and power generation products – and Dongfeng Honda Automobile Co.

As a world-leading power solutions provider, Cummins established its East Asia R&D center in WEDZ, becoming the first Sino-foreign joint venture in China that has an automotive engine technology center.

Dongfeng Honda ranked eighth on the list, with its annual output exceeding 100 billion yuan ($14.76 billion) for five consecutive years. At present, it is building a new energy vehicle manufacturing plant in WEDZ.

Among the 30 WEDZ enterprises on the list, 16 are from the automobile industry. Other enterprises that have made the list are from the new materials, smart manufacturing, biomedicine, and food and beverages industries.
