The expert review meeting for the fifth batch of testing roads for Wuhan's intelligent connected vehicles (ICV) was held on Jan 12 in Junshan New City in the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WEDZ).

A total of 344 kilometers of ICV testing roads – all based in WEDZ – have undergone risk evaluation, and are now able to conduct ICV testing and demonstration operations. These roads were opened recently, bringing the total number of such roads to 660 km, covering about 490 square kilometers.

As an important hub to develop the automobile industry in Central China's Hubei province, WEDZ has successfully carried out six major types of ICV applications that include 15 specific application scenarios in shared traffic, bus transfers, public sanitation and other aspects.

Dongfeng, Baidu, Xiaomi and other enterprises have conducted autonomous driving road testing and demonstration applications on these roads in WEDZ.
