Gao Zimu, a senior high school student from Wuhan San New School, which is located in the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WEDZ), Wuhan, Central China's Hubei province, won the silver medal in the biology category of the S.T. Yau High School Science Competition – a global research-based competition which emphasizes innovation, originality, creativity and persistence in research activities.

Gao is the first middle school student in Hubei province to win such an award in the past four years.

He submitted an English thesis on how to mitigate the pain caused by an ankle sprain, based on his observation that ankles are among the most vulnerable parts of human bodies while playing sports.
