Seven new pocket parks were set up in the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WEDZ).
The pocket park outside of Hannan Yucai Middle School, one of the seven, has a total area of 3,316 square meters, and features exuberant vegetation, walking trails, landscape painting walls and benches. It attracts locals from the surrounding communities to walk and relax.
Zhang Wei, a local who visits the pocket park, said that the park used to be a vacant space nearing a parking lot. It would become messy and noisy as students go to or leave the school. After the park was built, he can now enjoy the refreshing view as soon as he opens the curtains in his house.
These pocket parks are a part of efforts made by the WEDZ government to increase the living quality for residents. They plan to make full use of the natural cultural resources in the zone.
The plan is that by 2025, the zone will add 43 new parks and 60 kilometers of green trails.
