Hubei Ecarx Technology Co, a technological innovation enterprise invested in and independently operated by Geely Holdings Group and based in the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WEDZ), was recently selected as the only moose enterprise in Hubei province, while another 27 companies in the zone were selected as gazelle enterprises in the provincial sci-tech new creature enterprise plan issued by the Science and Technology Department of Hubei Province on Oct 19.
The plan stipulates that by 2025, Hubei is expected to cultivate 1,000 gazelle companies, 100 potential unicorn firms, 10 unicorn firms, five moose enterprises, and 10 listed sci-tech corporations.
The so-called moose enterprises are those that feature exponential growth out of the gate, have the ability to lead the whole industry, and enjoy large domestic market shares.
They are the highest level in the provincial new creature enterprise ranking.
Founded in 2017, Ecarx focuses on automotive intelligence and networking, providing digital cockpit electronics, active safety electronics, unmanned driving sensors and controllers. Its technologies have been applied in more than 3.2 million cars throughout the world. The firm currently has over 2,000 research team members, and its branches are scattered throughout China (such as Wuhan, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Dalian, Beijing, Suzhou, and Chengdu) and abroad (such as Malaysia, Sweden and the United Kingdom).
Since it set up operations in WEDZ, Ecarx has invested more than 4 billion yuan ($551.2 million) in R&D, and has nearly 1,000 approved intellectual property rights. Last year, the firm generated $436 million in revenue.
